Why Most Ads Are Destined To Fail

Here’s a statement that might trigger some people:
Most advertising has been SH*T for the past hundred years.
There’s a quote from the godfather of marketing Claude Hopkinks:
‘We’re entering an area where people stop running ads with the goal of “boosting awareness”… Or “promoting visibility.”
We finally realize it’s crucial to measure our ads with TANGIBLE NUMBERS. Clear returns.’
This is roughly what he said around a hundred years ago. And unfortunately he was wrong…
…big time wrong.
The Problem With Most Marketing Today
Imagine you have the worst sales team on the planet. Every time you check on them you get the same excuses:
‘On Tuesday, my pet Alligator died so I couldn’t really do a lot of calls…
Then on Wednesday, little Timmy got sick so I had to take him to the hospital…
And then on Thursday… ’
If you’re a responsible business owner, you’d never hire salespeople that talk excuses instead of numbers.
So why aren’t you using the same mindset for your ads?
Most business owners are happy with results like ‘increased brand visibility’ or ‘improved awareness’
But deep down they have no idea what it means… And so do I.
Now how do we fix that?
How To Get Tangible Results From Your Ads
Add a call to action to your ads. A sentence that asks the prospect to do something:
‘Send us a message for a quote’
‘Fill out the form for a free consultation’
Now you can measure how many people take that action. And suddenly you know what you’re spending money on:
‘We’re spending $500 per month and getting 50 messages from interested prospects’
From now on every ad we run will have a CTA. Because that’s the only way to get tangible results.
