I wish I knew this when I first started in business:
One of the easiest ways to improve the ad results of any company is by…
…fixing their headlines.
It’s the lowest hanging fruit that would move the needle drastically.
I say the headline is even more important than the actual context of your ad.
Consider you write the best core text in the world… And it wouldn’t matter if they don’t get past the first sentence.
Why Most Headlines Are BORING
Saw an ad recently of a finance guru trying to sell his course.
I don’t know who wrote the script for it, but that person needs to be fired for sure.
Here’s what it went like:
‘ You know… When I used to work my 9-5, I’d drive my car around this city.
There are a lot of rich people living here, and I remember it made me feel good.
It made me believe there was money out there. And that one day I could also have…’
Stop.
This is absolutely and utterly BORINGGGGGGG. What on earth is this guy even doing?
Our prospects don’t have time to listen to our life story. Their attention spans are too short nowadays.
We need to grab them with something punchier. Shorter. Instant.
How do we do that?
The famous ‘print it’ test.
The Ultimate Test For Your Headline
Imagine you had to run an that could only have two things:
A headline
A call to action
(Call to action = Send us a message, call this phone number, visit our store, etc…)
How would you write your headline to make that ad work?
What would you say in that ONE SENTENCE to make your prospect take action?
Here are some good examples to get your creativity going:
‘Your home sold within 94 days or we pay you $1,500. Send us a message for a free quote.’
‘How To Win Friends & Influence People. Fill the coupon below to buy the book.’
‘We beat your ad performance or you pay us nothing. Click below to schedule a free consultation.’
See how this forces you to be more concise?
Use this mindset whenever you write a headline. I guarantee it will make a drastic difference in your ad performance.
