Good writing is a superpower. It can get you more sales, grow your business and show people you’re a pro at what you do.
The problem is that most writing is horrible.
Research shows that 20% of content gets 80% of the views.
This means the absolute vast majority of writing is basically ignored. And the reason for this is simple…
… it’s dry. Long-winded. Less entertaining than a math lesson.
The good news is that anyone can climb to the top 20%. You don’t need to have talent or passion, or any other excuse people come with.
All it takes is to reset your brain.
Delete School Programing To Improve Your Writing
Everything we learned in school about writing is wrong. Even if you were an A student your content would still be bad.
An essay that will impress your teacher, is nothing like a blogpost that people won’t stop reading.
One sounds fancy, sophisticated, BORING. The other one is addictive.
Their only goal was to teach us how to pass exams. There’s a big difference between that and writing to make prospects glued to your stuff.
In this series of articles we’re gonna erase all that programming and turn you into a content wizard.
Someone who can write stuff that SELLS. Be it blogposts, video scripts, reports, etc.
Worst Mistake In Writing
First step to become a wizard is to make sure your content doesn’t scare the reader.
Imagine a newspaper. Lots of lines formatted very close together. Dense. You look at that page and your brain says: ‘pfffffffff, are we going to have to wade through all that?
You could write the world’s best article or make the most compelling argument… it wouldn’t matter if people don’t even start reading.
So short paragraphs and easy to understand sentences. Just like the article you’re reading now.
Finding The Sweet Spot
Okay does that mean everything we write needs to be short? Do we need to have a break after every sentence?
No.
It’s okay for paragraphs to vary in length. Just don’t go over three lines condensed together.
That’s all for now. More coming.
